The Vietnamese American Science & Technology Society (VAST) created in 1990, is a genuine professional organization oriented toward Science & Technology, operating in accordance with the 501(c) (3) code specific to Non-Profit Organizations in the USA.
The objectives of the Society are hereby set forth:
- Develop mutual technical support, assistance & understanding among Vietnamese Science - Technology professionals, particularly in Vietnam-related issues.
- Create an inter-reacting conventional as well as cybernetic media for the exchange of information & knowledge.
- Promote the active participation of Vietnamese science & technology professionals, engineers, specialist & technicians in the research, investigation, diffusion and discussions about practical scientific applications aiming at the improvement of the Vietnamese People welfare, economy, environment and lifestyle through programs of development, reconstruction and modernization for a free Vietnam.
- Outreach to students and youngsters of Indochinese origin in vocational training, career guidance, employment and family counseling.
- Establish a network among Vietnamese science & technology professionals to better serve the oversea Vietnamese communities.
- Strengthen the interaction & communication with other professional organizations to work on issues and problems of common interests.

VAST MEMBERSHIP
Determination and Rights of Members:
The Corporation has three categories of memberships: regular, honorary, and associate. All memberships have the same rights, privileges, restrictions and conditions except otherwise specified in the Bylaws.
Qualifications of Members.:
The Corporation membership is available to any Vietnamese-American or Vietnamese residing overseas willing to support the goals and objectives of this Corporation as described in its Article of Incorporation and its Bylaws.
Qualifications for membership:
· Minimum 21 years of age.
· High School educational level & above.
· Filing a free online membership aplication.
Requirement for age and educational level may be waived provided that the candidate has had professional experience in the practice of Science and Technology and is fully committed to the objectives of this Corporation and is introduced by other members of this Corporation. There is only one type of Membership inherent with the right to vote.
Membership of this Corporation is not transferable or assignable.
